Almost Done

Wow, somehow this term was fast and long at the same time.  So many things going on to think about and so many things to do.  I’m not sure I have ever worked this many hours, and the rest of the teaching team provided a lot of cover.  So much gratitude to everyone for making this work.  This is it; put in that last surge of energy to finish this module and produce a final portfolio you are proud of.  In the back of your mind, plan some type of reward for finishing this term, this year has been like nothing else we will ever experience.

A poster that assembles like puzzle pieces can be an effective way to bring related concepts together.  This could be an interesting way to address one of the final portfolio outcomes.

We get asked where all of our images come from.  Many we take ourselves, like most on this webpage, but we also have a subscription to Shutterstock, a company that provides images used by media outlets for a monthly fee.  The artists are incredible and sometimes take photos or produce digital illustrations by request.  If you need images for reports, you can also search for free stock images, there are many available online.  Some require citing the source in exchange for the free access.

A few additional models arrived just in time for this week’s videos  This model is amazing, it looks handmade.

A well-illustrated bacterium once again showing the importance of art in connecting us with science concepts.

Some people say that you have to have hope when you plant a garden from seed, and we do have a lot of hope for the future thanks to a wonderful teaching team and all of the students who made this course smooth, fun, and an all-around amazing experience.  We are hoping summer will bring the same level of spirit and commitment, and are building a garden to go with our summer online labs.

This pavilion came in many pieces in several boxes, but apparently all of that model building Mark has been doing paid off. It was supposed to take 3-4 people several days, but he completed it himself in just a couple of days. We'll be shooting summer course videos here soon.

Now the garden is basically a huge area of mud and seeds that gobbles up every drop of available water. But if that rainbow is a sign, summer term in this garden is going to be awesome too!
