Module/Week 4
Digestive Process
Laboratory & Media Piece
Digestive Process Objective
Make original media that describes the process of food digestion and nutrient absorption, including products and potential problems along the digestive tract.
Engaging teaching is educational and entertaining. Most of us end up teaching at some point, whether it’s family, friends, or professionally. For this guide’s media piece, you are developing a media piece that describes the digestive process from start to finish.
Your media piece can be a written story, a captioned series of photos, a comic, or even a digestive system game. There are examples of digestive system games on this module’s resource page.
Assignment (due Sunday on Canvas)
You are creating an original media piece to teach about digestive system processes. Describe the process of food digestion and nutrient absorption, including products and potential problems along the digestive tract. This can be a creative story, a captioned photo essay, comic, game, etc.
Teaching someone else is one of the best ways to learn about a topic. Select something that interests you, and have fun with the learning process by creating something educational and entertaining. This could be an excellent piece to include in the final portfolio.
Include “normal” structures and functions, what is produced after each digestive system step (for example:chyme), and possible problems/disorders along the way:
- The food entering the digestive system. You can create a meal.
- Mouth (teeth, salivary glands)
- Esophagus
- Stomach
- Small Intestine and Accessory Organs
- Large Intestine
- Rectum and Anus.
Upload a single file to Canvas that includes each aspect of this assignment.
