System Comparison Objective

Create an original media piece that compares and contrasts attributes of the respiratory and urinary systems.

Background information for this lab and media piece can be found in this week’s Respiratory System and Urinary System guides.

Assignment (due Sunday on Canvas)

System Comparison

For this assignment you are creating an original media piece that compares and contrasts attributes of the respiratory system and urinary system.  Both systems play an important role in maintaining body homeostasis.  Use at least two types of media.  For example, text and photos, sketches with captions, or making models and narrating the process on video.

Include the following in your media piece:

  1.  The primary function of each organ system (respiratory & urinary), and how these functions relate to overall homeostasis in the body.
  2. The primary organs of each of the two organ systems, including (a) what these organs do, (b) how they are structured, and (c) the role capillaries of the cardiovascular system play within these organs.
  3. Examples of tests used to diagnose respiratory and urinary disorders.
  4. Descriptions of two disorders of each organ system (four disorders total).
  5. An example of how exercise can impact the respiratory system and an example of how diet can impact the urinary system.
  6. How “binge” drinking and alcohol poisoning can negatively impact respiration, kidney function, and the liver (of the digestive system).
