About this Guide
Pandemic Progress
Like many of other immunocompromised households, Mark and I still practice mask-wearing around people and some aspects of social isolation. Although the world is still in a significant health crisis and many have suffered incalculable loss, there are days more hope is on the horizon. Research is clarifying viral impacts and variants are being monitored more closely. We are living in a distinct point of history and will learn together in the years to come about this virus and its impact on our species.

Behind-the-Scenes
Spring has seemed more precious than ever. Maybe it is the reassuring nature of seeing things go on that are not impacted by the pandemic or economics. This wild rose bush has been blooming for over 15 years, and like clockwork it bloomed again this month. Each year it has been growing larger and taller, and this year it is surrounded by new offshoot plants. Just wanted to share this beauty.
Apparently building endless models (ages 8+) has not been enough, now there is a 12′ x 20′ pavilion under construction too. We are making a big garden for our summer course, but we both burn in the sun and rain is messing with our videos, so some cover seemed like a good idea. This showed up in big boxes with a lot of parts, so we’ll see what happens.
Recommended Books
A classic and still a very good read about disease and human societies.
This Pulitzer Prize winning book is a real page-turner, and more relevant than ever.
Many people though influenza would be the next big pandemic. It still could be.
