Welcome

If you are homeschooling, taking this Human Biology course for fun, or a former student that wants to see what we are up to; here is some of the information posted to Canvas that our BI 103 students are seeing.

Course Overview

Course Structure

Course Support

Weekly Activities

Each week is one module that is built around one or more organ systems.  Each module has two guides that contain mini-lectures, demos, readings, labs, review questions, and resources for additional learning.

Weekly Products

After completing each of the module’s two guides, BI 103 students take a short quiz on Canvas and also upload their media piece to Canvas.  So, each week students produce two media pieces and answers to two  short-answer format quizzes.

Course Outcomes

Human Biology is deliberately structured to address three baccalaureate core outcomes in a manner that can be used beyond this course.  Visit the outcomes often to see where your science experiences fit.

Final Portfolio

Students add quiz answers and media pieces to construct a Human Biology portfolio that is due finals week (“week 11”).  This portfolio is evidence of mastery of course learning outcomes, and may also be used as a resource for future learning.

Answers to Questions

Human Biology is a self-paced course for adult learners, and can be completed independently.  BI 103 students can ask questions or touch bases with the teaching team through Canvas.
