Mark and I have had the privilege of teaching over 45,000 university students during the past 27 years.\u00a0 One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how even though we share a common place and time, every one is so incredibly unique.\u00a0 Sometimes it takes years to find out what your unique perspective is, but it can be easier to identify if you regularly collect the experiences you encounter along the way.\u00a0 After a while the same basic themes emerge, and it is hard to believe other people don’t experience that aspect of the world as clearly as your do.\u00a0 If you don’t already journal, this is a good time to start.\u00a0 You will thank yourself 25 years from now.<\/p>\n

Found objects that other people may see as “junk” can tell stories of experiences and moments in time that would otherwise be lost.\u00a0 Collect scraps like junk mail, seed packets, damaged book pages, fabric remnants, and other discards.\u00a0 Paste, stitch, sketch, and arrange them into something new.\u00a0 Not only is this an inexpensive and low-impact hobby, it can reveal new ideas and talents.<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Apparently building endless models (ages 8+) has not been enough, now there is a 12′ x 20′ pavilion under construction too.\u00a0 \u00a0We are making a big garden for our summer course, but we both burn in the sun and rain is messing with our videos, so some cover seemed like a good idea.\u00a0 This showed up in big boxes with a lot of parts, so we’ll see what happens.<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n
